Lavina Laura (Eagle) Masson, age 95, passed away of natural causes in Green Valley, Arizona, on May 28, 2011.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with Father Rich Adam officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Rosary and prayer services will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Lavina was born February 22, 1916 in Richmond, Iowa, the daughter of Frank & Gertrude (Lintz) Eagle. She moved to San Diego, CA, met and married Eymard Mellecker from Johnson County, Iowa, in 1941. While growing up in San Diego her children fondly remember family camping trips, fishing, activities at St. Patrick's Church and visits back to Iowa, meeting cousins and enjoying the farm communities. After raising their family in San Diego, they divorced and several years later Lavina returned to Iowa. She met and married Daniel Masson. They moved to Florida and then retired in Green Valley, AZ.

While in Florida, Dan & Lavina made many beautiful quilts some of which were gifted with love to several members of the family. They enjoyed cruising around many parts of the world, playing cards with friends and brief trips to any neighboring casino. In Green Valley, they gave up quilting for annual summer trips back to Iowa for family reunions, cards & leisurely visits with both their families and card games weekly with new friends at Pueblo Estates retirement community. They usually stopped en route to & from Iowa to visit married children scattered around the country. Dan and Lavina are active members of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church of Green Valley.

Lavina is survived by her husband, Daniel Masson, and his children, John, Amy & Danny; her seven children including, Barbara (Dave) Kemery (AZ), Carolyn Cool (AZ), Sandra (Harmon) Harris (CA), Bill Mellecker (OR), Bob Mellecker (OR), Dennis (Paulette) Mellecker (OR) and Mary Kay (Fred) (CT). She leaves 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Richard) Lahr (IA).

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Eymard Mellecker and Raymond Bouronill; her sisters, Vera Eagle, Loretta Donohue & Viola Ryan; her brothers, Herman and Clement Eagle.
