LaVerne “Nick” Christner Jr., age 67, of Fairfield, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at his residence under hospice care.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Nick’s family at www.jonesfh.com

Nick was born on July 20, 1958, in Washington, Iowa, the son LaVerne Christner Sr. and Patricia Cottrell. He graduated from Washington High School in 1976. On September 29, 2006, Nick married Vicki Brown in Monmouth, Illinois.

Nick worked at Mt. Pleasant Pre-Cast Concrete until his retirement three years ago. Nick previously worked as a hired hand for various farmers, did tree removal with Taylor Tree Service, and was employed at Wells Pet Food in Monmouth. He enjoyed fishing, raising rabbits, and loved his dogs. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Christner of Fairfield, Iowa; son, Joseph (Misty) Christner of Coralville, Iowa; daughter, Nicole Christner of Plymouth, Illinois; stepson, Ron (Suzi) Williams of Wellman, Iowa; stepson, Michael Williams of Washington, Iowa; stepson, Jarrod Folkland of Quincy, Illinois; stepson, Mathew (Kim) Miller of Tennessee; and stepdaughter, Heather Brown of Fairfield, Iowa; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nick is also survived by his sister, Kellie Whitman and brother, Ed (Cindy) Coon, both of Galesburg, Illinois.

Nick was preceded in death by his father, LaVerne Christner Sr.; mother, Patricia Taylor; stepfather, Lawrence Taylor; son, Everette Christner; sisters, Susan Pohren and Diane Cramer, and brother, Dale Christner.
