Obituary

Laura Josephine Fisher, age 50, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022, surrounded by her family following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church with a Rosary service beginning at 2:30 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at St. James Church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for St. James Church, St. James School, the Washington County Hospital Foundation or Hospice of Washington County. Laura was born January 25, 1972, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph E. and Josephine L. (Meisenbach) Triplett. She graduated from Watseka High School in 1990 and later graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in marketing. Laura was united in marriage to Aaron Fisher on January 2, 1993, in Washington, Iowa.

Laura was a Financial Advisor for Northwestern Mutual since 1996 where she was Managing Director for several years. Laura was an active member of St. James Parish where she served on Finance Council for many years. She served six years on the Washington County Hospital Board of Trustees. Laura loved her family and was happiest when she played the role of hostess for family gatherings. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron Fisher of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Samantha Brinning and husband Jerry of Brighton, Iowa; son, Jacob Fisher of Elsmere, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Thomas, Leah and Lauren Brinning; and eight siblings: Catherine Ballew of Champaign, IL; Gene Triplett and wife Diane of Monticello, IL; Mary Davis and husband Shawn of Fithian, IL; Elizabeth Champ and the late Horace "Tony" Champ of Hebron, KY; Kevin Triplett and wife Sandra of Powder Springs, GA; Patricia Storer and husband Gene of Bourbonnais, IL; Joseph Triplett and wife Michelle of Bloomington, IL; and Susan Van Osdol and husband Mike of Washington, IA; many nieces and nephews, and Melva Triplett of Washington, Iowa.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Triplett; and two brothers-in-law, Craig Tanner and Horace "Tony" Champ.
