Obituary

Larry James Fishback, age 66, of Washington died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his home in Washington following a sudden illness.

Services will be held 10:00 am Monday, October 4th at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Sunday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Sunday evening. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Larry was born August 23, 1944 in Muncie, Indiana the son of Harold Eugene and RuthEllen (Fullhart) Fishback. In 1963 he graduated from Albany High School in Albany, Indiana. He later attended and graduated from William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Larry was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Landau on June 25, 1966 in Washington, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1976. Larry was married to Carla Rich and later married Lori Sheetz. .

Larry and Mary Ellen lived for a short time in Indiana prior to moving back to Washington in 1971. He lived most of his life in Washington County where he farmed north of Washington. Larry was a member of the Washington Flying Club for many years. He was an avid Washington Demon and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was the timekeeper for Washington Demon Basketball for many years. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his son, Larry Lee Fishback and wife Brenda of Washington; son, Nathan Fishback and wife Rachel of Washington; daughter Ashli Turner and husband Trey of Bentonville, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren; brother Jay Fishback and wife Dolores of Swansea, Illinois; sister JoEllen Hickey and husband Rory of Muncie, Indiana; and his father-in-law, Raymond Landau of Washington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Mary Ellen in 1976; and his mother-in-law Grace Landau.
