Kimberly Michelle Rios, age 16, of Washington died Tuesday May 25, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Paul Appel officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rosary service will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Kimberly was born on February 16, 1994 in Brownsville, Texas, the daughter of Juana Bernal. She lived most of her life in Washington. She was a ninth grade student at Washington Junior High School. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Kimberly liked listening to music, journaling, and taking pictures.

Kimberly is survived by her mother, Juana "Janie" Bernal of Washington; sister, Brenda DeJesus and husband Richard of Washington; sister, Edna Bernal of Washington; nephew, Fabian DeJesus; niece, Giselle Marcelino; nephew, Deon Johnson III; maternal grandparents, Miguel and Zenaida Bernal of Brownsville, Texas; uncle, Mike Bernal and wife Patricia of El Paso, Texas; aunt, Esther Bernal and husband Jose Tovar of Brownsville, Texas; uncle Benito Bernal of Brownsville, Texas; uncle, Carlos Bernal of Brownsville, Texas.
