Kent Douglas Dixon, age 66, of Washington, Iowa went home to be with his Lord on Monday, June 6, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Bob Wollenberg and Rev. Herb Yoder officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 Friday afternoon. Private family interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the United Presbyterian Home. Kent was born September 13, 1944 in Boise, Idaho the son of Douglas and Maxine (Edson) Dixon. He moved to Southern California as a child where he lived until moving to Washington in 1998. He married Carolyn Stewart Kling on March 4, 1983.

He attended school in Lakewood, California and worked for J.C. Penney Company for 19 years. He also worked for Brown Shoe Company/Naturalizer West, The Athlete's Foot, Von Maur, and Sitler House of Light.

He was a member of the Ham Radio Club of Washington, and attended the United Presbyterian Church. He loved Washington and enjoyed visiting with everyone he met. Kent was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Surviving are his wife Mary Carolyn Dixon of Washington, Iowa; daughter Michele Gaylor; son Ethan Dixon and wife Jessica; daughter Alicia Clever and husband Clint all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; stepson John Kling of Washington, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Mary Espinosa and husband Harvey of Santa Ana, California; sister Jane Yoakum of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister Judy Blehm and husband Walt of Mission Viejo, California; brother Marshall Dixon and wife Sherrie of Cerritos, California; three grandsons, three step grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Maxine Dixon.
