Kenneth "Kenny" Gierman, age 54, of Washington, passed away suddenly Friday, March 13, 2015.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Darryl Carr. Calling hours will begin at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington. Kenneth Arlen Gierman was born September 5, 1960 in San Bernardino, California, the son of Richard and Roberta (Capp) Gierman. He attended school in Keota, Iowa. Kenny was united in marriage to Angie Parker on September 1, 2013 in Washington, Iowa.
Kenny worked in asphalt paving most of his life. He was a firefighter in Nevada for a short time. Kenny was a Golden Gloves boxer and enjoyed building fences from native wood branches and logs. He was very creative and larger than life, always ready with a good prank or joke. He loved music and dancing, storytelling and making people laugh but his greatest love was spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed, especially by those who knew him as "Grandpa Johnson."
He is survived by his wife, Angie Parker of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Heather Edwards of Washington, Iowa; grandchildren: Khaven Wagenknecht and Taylor Edwards of Washington, Iowa;; brother, Richard Gierman of California; brother, Jerry Gierman of Washington; sister, Donna Montgomery of California; brother, Michael Gierman of California; and brother, Eric Gierman and husband Charlie of Des Moines, Iowa.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
