Obituary

Kenneth Anthony "Tony" Hammons, age 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, following a sudden illness.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Interment will take place at the Columbus City Cemetery at a later date. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Tony's family at www.jonesfh.com .

Tony was born August 16, 1957, in San Clemente, California, the son of Kenneth A. and Carolyn (Anderson) Hammons. He graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus Junction and later graduated from Iowa State University with a Degree in Psychology.

Tony lived most of his life in Ames where he was a Food Service Manager for Iowa State University. He moved to Cedar Rapids 13 years ago where he worked for EMS Inc., in North Liberty, Iowa.

Tony was an animal lover and enjoyed his cats and dogs. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies.

He is survived by his parents, Kenny and Carol Hammons of Crawfordsville, Iowa; brother, Richard Hammons of Castle, Oklahoma; brother, Scott Hammons of Slater, Missouri; sister, Kimberly Murphy Hammons of Strassburg, Missouri; brother, Steven Hammons of Conesville, Iowa; Daniel Hammons of Conesville, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Hammons; sister, Roseanne Hammons; and nephew, Eli Conaway.
