Kenneth H. "Kenny" Pepper, age 88, of Washington, Iowa died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Washington County Hospital.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Interment with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at the Keota Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Lending Hands or the United Methodist Church. Kenny was born December 31, 1924 in Keota, Iowa the son of G.H. and Rosie (Crawford) Pepper. He graduated from Keota High School in 1943. Kenny was united in marriage to Margaret (Hahn) Sparrow on March 19, 1953.
Kenny lived in the Keota area prior to moving to Washington in 1965. He farmed near Keota and in the Dublin area. After moving to Washington, he worked as Deputy Auditor for two years, and later worked at Crane Valve for over twenty years until his retirement. Kenny was a loving and generous man, opening his home to his family and their many friends. He loved attending dances with his wife and enjoyed listening to and playing music. He played Bass Fiddle in a dance band and played the Tuba while in high school and for the Keota Municipal Band. Kenny's family always came first. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their many activities.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Pepper of Washington, Iowa; daughter Shirley Conklin and husband Craig of Sigourney, Iowa; daughter Carla Pepper-Kleese of Washington, Iowa; two grandchildren: Chad Pepper of Washington, Iowa and Richelle Slaymaker and husband Marcus of DeWitt, Iowa; five great-grandchildren: Cashden, Ryen, and Teage Pepper and Layton and Liza Slaymaker; two brothers Roger "Red" Pepper and wife Gerry of Nixa, Missouri; and William Pepper and wife Pat of Mexico, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
