Elizabeth Kay Bennett, age 76, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her residence, after a brave battle with cancer.
Per Kay's wishes, her body has been donated to science. Interment will be held at a later date in Cambridge, Illinois. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County and the United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be sent for Kay's family through the web at

Kay was born June 20, 1940 in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Kenneth R. and Margrette E. (Anderson) Johnson. She attended high school in Cambridge, Illinois and Business College in Minnesota. Kay married Frank Edmund and they later divorced. She was united in marriage to Rich Bennett on January 6, 1990 in Washington, Iowa.
Kay worked as a secretary for Doane Farm Management and in sales for Carpetland and Longaberger Baskets. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Questers Chilcote. Kay enjoyed gardening, antiques, cooking and entertaining, and seasonal decorations in her home. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Rich Bennett of Washington, Iowa; son, Jerry Edmund and wife Sharon of Washington, Iowa; son, Jim Edmund and wife Pam of Richmond, Texas; son, Tim Edmund and wife Laura of Freeport, Illinois; mother, Margrette Utech and husband Allan of Washington, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Kay was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Roger and Steve.
