Kathy Lee (Ferguson) Evans, age 50, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at her mother's home in Washington following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Al Kruse officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Iowa City Hospice. Kathy Evans was born November, 30, 1961, in Montevideo, Minnesota the daughter of Dennis W. and Mary (Denton) Ferguson. Kathy attended school in Washington, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Alan N. Evans on August 12, 1997 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Kathy was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, Iowa. She was a devoted mother and wife and spent her life caring for her family and helping others. Kathy had a beautiful voice and enjoyed sharing this gift with others. Even when Kathy was receiving treatments at the hospital, she would sing, raising the spirits of the nurses and other patients. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Evans of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Tiffany Evans of Washington, Iowa; son, Michael Miller of Washington, Iowa; granddaughter, Kimberly Marie Miller; mother, Mary Bruty and step father Robert Bruty of Washington, Iowa; sister, Kristi (Ferguson) Van Laere and husband Bruce of Dewitt, Iowa; brother, John Dennis Ferguson and wife, Deana of Des Moines, Iowa; niece, Elizabeth (Van Laere) McChesney and husband, David; niece, Kaitlyn Mary Van Laere; niece, Hope Rogers; nephew, Jacob Van Laere; nephew, Simon Fredericksen; great nephew, Charlie McChesney; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father Dennis W. Ferguson, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
