Kathleen M. "Kathy" Wiley, age 72, of Washington, Iowa died Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Halcyon House in Washington following a short illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Friday, July 9th at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Herb Yoder and Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin noon Thursday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Thursday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Church. Kathy was born January 24, 1938 in Tarkio, Missouri the daughter of Eber and Freda (Husing) Collins. She graduated from Tarkio High School and later attended Tarkio College. On June 19, 1960 Kathy was united in marriage to John Richard "Dick" Wiley in Tarkio, Missouri.
In her earlier years, Kathy taught school in Pawnee City and Riverton, Nebraska. Kathy and Dick owned and operated Iowa Computer Solutions in Washington, Iowa for many years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington where she was active in United Presbyterian Women. She was a member of T.T.T. and Fortnightly. Kathy was active in the Democratic Party helping with Hillary Clinton's campaign.
Kathy is survived by her son Greg Wiley and wife Lori of Washington, Iowa; daughter Christy Buchholz and husband Erik of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren Sara, Sam and Anna Wiley; and Kaitlin and Jessie Buchholz. She is also survived by one sister Rosie Meierhans and husband Chuck of Beatrice, Nebraska as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2005.
