Karma Sue Hanson, age 76, of Washington, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Washington, Iowa, surrounded by her family.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa, with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Karma’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Karma was born September 28, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Douglas M. and Jessie M. (Hoover) Crone. She attended school in Washington and Iowa City graduating from Iowa City High in 1967. Karma was united in marriage to Roger Hanson on February 6, 1976, in Rock Island, Illinois.
Karma worked in the Medical Records Department at Mercy Hospital for 16 years until her retirement in 2009. She also worked as a Real Estate Agent in the Washington area. Karma and Roger owned and operated Hanson Hometown Furniture and after Karma received her Broker’s license, they owned Hanson’s Hometown Realty in Washington. Karma had previously lived in Iowa City and Solon before returning to Washington. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Karma loved her family and cherished the time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Hanson of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Tricia Bell-Distelhorst and husband Rick of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Amy Andrew and husband Clayton of Moline, Illinois; grandchildren: Jordan Bell, Joshua (Benie) Bell, Cameron Cole, Morgan Cole, Sally (Neil) Hoskins, Arrian Andrew, Jarrett Andrew and Montana Andrew and great grandchildren: Josiah Bell, Harper Hoskins, Lincoln Hoskins and Connor Hoskins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jeramie; and siblings: Kenneth Crone, Keith Crone, Kathy Anderson, Jerry Crone, Karen Kleese, Allen Crone and Douglas Crone.
