Karel K. “Kim” Farrier, age 65, of Wayland, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Lake Darling Lodge. Memorials have been established for a children’s fishing fund. Online condolences may be sent for Kim’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Kim was born on July 13, 1960, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Karel Wayne and Geraldine J. (Chalupa) Farrier. He attended school in Washington. On December 12, 1987, Kim married Terri Lynn Elmore.
In his earlier years, Kim worked for Duwa Construction building pole buildings and later drove dump trucks for DeLong Construction. Throughout his life, he also worked for the City of Washington, Christner Concrete, and Pat Boileau Construction.
Kim was known for his storytelling and for being a jokester. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially the times spent casting a line alongside his children.
He is survived by his three children: son, Justin “Jake” (Nicole) Farrier of New London, Iowa; daughter, Jessica “Jessie” Farrier of Wayland, Iowa; and son, Jordan (Rhian) Farrier of Hannibal, Missouri; five grandchildren: Eli, Jesse, and Mya Tedrow, and Delta and Charlotte “Charlie” Farrier; mother, Gerry Farrier of Washington, Iowa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dean and Marie Elmore of Washington, Iowa; sister, Karla Beliel of Marshall Island, Australia; brother, Kelly Farrier of Washington, Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Karel, in 2001; his wife, Terri, in 2009; and his nephew, Paul Ryan “L.P.” Beliel.
