Justin Matthew Letcher, age 27 of Iowa City, formerly of Washington, died Sunday April 15, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a two year battle with liver disease.
Mass of the resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Troy Richmond officiating. Visitation will begin 12 noon, Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial fund has been established. Justin Matthew Letcher was born May 26, 1984 the son of Kendal and Barbara (Reighard) Letcher in Washington, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in 2002, and was a 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa.
While a student at the University of Iowa, Justin drove a Cambus. He worked for Geico in Coralville, Iowa, American General Finance in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Combined Insurance in North Liberty, Iowa.
Justin was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Washington. He was a watch collector who enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and especially enjoyed the hours he spent with his loving cat, Ghosty. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his parents Kendal and Barbara Letcher of Washington, Iowa; sister Amanda Potter and husband Douglas of Washington, Iowa; sister Paige Letcher of Washington, Iowa; maternal grandparents Carroll and Lucille Reighard of Washington, Iowa; paternal grandmother Joan Letcher of Fulton, Illinois; aunt Pat Fritz and husband Larry of Washington, Iowa; aunt Priscilla Reighard of Washington, Iowa; aunt Janet Windus and husband Randy of Atalissa, Iowa; uncle Drew Letcher of Wheaton, Illinois; aunt Kristen Irwin and husband Tom of Centerville, Iowa; Aunt Dina Letcher of Clinton, Iowa; and uncle Klay Letcher of DeWitt, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Melvin Letcher.
