Obituary

June Dodder Hagist, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, went to her final home with her Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.

Per her request her body has been cremated. A family service will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established for Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund. June Gunhild Lindner was born September 29, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest child of William and Violet (Holden) Lindner. She met Daryl Dodder at the Mary Garden Ballroom in Chicago while he was stationed at Glenview Naval Air Station and they were married January 10, 1944. After Daryl returned from the war they made their home in Washington but Chicago was always her heart's hometown. Daryl died June 8, 1972. June married Richard Hagist on July 24, 1976. He died December 24, 1995.

June was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Republican Party, Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women, Y Women and was a volunteer at Kirkwood College Literacy Program. She enjoyed having coffee with friends, especially the Sunshine Girls, traveling ( a highlight was visiting the home where her mother was born in Frinnaryd, Sweden), sewing, reading, gardening and especially being with her family. June moved to Halcyon House in April, 2012, and appreciated the wonderful care she received there.

She is survived by son, Tom (Betsy) Dodder of St. Paul, Minnesota; daughter, Judy (Cliff) Duke of Litchfield, Illinois; daughter, Jo (Dick)Greiner of Washington, Iowa; grandchildren; Nathan (Eunha Hoh) Dodder of San Diego, California; Michelle ( Darren) Lingenfelter of Santa Clara, California; Jeff (Misty) Duke of Litchfield, Illinois; Mike (Nicole) Greiner of Washington, Iowa; and Nick (Amber) Greiner of Urbana, Iowa. She is also survived by great grandchildren; Chase, Caden, Colbie, Gavin and Kemper Greiner, step great grandchildren, Ethan Yerly and Justin Lingenfelter; brother, Marvin (Lolly) Lindner of Chicago, Illinois; sister-in-law, Jayne Dodder of Topeka, Kansas; and special friends, Arlene Fenno an Bess Llewellyn and her Halcyon House family.

June was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, William Lindner; and sister, Dolores Schneller.
