M. Juanita Lovick, age 82, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, March 07, 2014, under Hospice care at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor Maureen Howard officiating. Calling hours will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 16th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Juanita was born September 26, 1931, in Montezuma, Iowa, the daughter of Robert John H. and Dr. Mildred (Trimble) Badger. She graduated from Montezuma High School and received her Nursing Diploma from the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1952. Juanita later received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ardie Lovick on June 7, 1952 in Montezuma, Iowa.
Juanita lived most of her life in Washington, Iowa. She had previously resided in Mingo, Cresco and Lawler, Iowa. She worked as an Emergency Room Nurse at the Washington County Hospital and later worked as a Public Health Nurse in Washington County until her retirement in 1994. Following her retirement she was a Registered Nurse at Lending Hands in Washington, Iowa, and taught C.N.A. courses through Kirkwood Community College. Juanita was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, Iowa where she sang in the choir for 30 years. She was a member of Fortnightly Music Department and a charter member of the Chilcote Questers. She enjoyed working with her plants and flowers and loved to shop, buy and sell antiques.
She is survived by a son, Steven K. Lovick and wife Emily of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughter, Debra Jo Rees and husband Loren of Boone, Iowa; daughter, Robyn Marie Feik and husband Jim of Letts, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Badger and wife Cindia of Des Moines, Iowa.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ardie in 2004; son, Karl in 1997; one sister, Roberta Linn; and an infant brother, Roy Badger.
