Juanita C. Hammen, age 62, of Coralville, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Monday evening. Prayer services will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Juanita was born June 21, 1952, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Paul Joseph and Martha (Rotenburger) Hammen. Juanita lived at the Washington Care Center for 25 years. She was a resident of Systems Unlimited in Washington, Iowa, and a resident of R.E.M. in Kalona and Coralville. She worked at the Washington County Developmental Center (WCDC) for many years

Juanita was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington. She enjoyed listening to country music and her many stuffed animals. She enjoyed the annual "Fish Day" at Marr Park and looked forward to her week at Camp R.E.E.C.E. Juanita especially enjoyed people and is most grateful for her friends and caregivers at R.E.M., Systems Unlimited and the Washington County Developmental Center.

She is survived by her mother, Martha Hammen of Washington, Iowa; sister, Diana Cox and husband Ralph of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Carolyn Rourke and husband Rollie of Iowa City; sister, Dorothy Neff and husband Mike of Bettendorf, Iowa; sister, Cindy Kaminski and husband Dave of Hickman, Nebraska; brother, Duane Hammen and friend Jackie Ross of Washington, Iowa; 10 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and great nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her father, Paul Hammen; three brothers, Charles, Vernon and Michael Hammen; and one sister, Monica Hammen.
