Joy Ann Bennett, age 78, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 17th at the United Presbyterian Home. There will be a time of visitation from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established for the First Baptist Church or Paws and More. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Joy was born June 30, 1945, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Marion (Widdifield) Mills. She graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and attended college at UNI, William Penn and Kirkwood. In 1966 she married Jim Bennett and they spent their lives in Washington, Iowa.
Joy worked at McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory and later for Dr. Smith and Dr. Westphal. Joy assisted Jim for many years in his brick laying business. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Red Hats and Fortnightly.
She is survived by Jim Bennett of Washington, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Phil Mills and Bill Mills.
