John M. Lloyd, Jr., 86, passed away at his home in Winter Haven, Florida on October 29, 2015.

John chose to donate his body to medical science. A graveside service will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington at a later date. Online condolences may be sent for John's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com .

John was born September 21, 1929 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Dr. J. M. and Gladys (James) Lloyd. He was educated in Washington and graduated from high school there in 1947. John attended Grinnell College and graduated from the University of Iowa, earning a master's degree in economics, after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of sergeant. He was united in marriage to Nell Miller on January 16, 1973. They lived in Washington and in Florida and retired permanently to Florida in 1999.

John worked in various industries including transportation for Rock Island Transit, and the finance industry working as a stock broker for many years. He was an avid reader and had a wide-ranging knowledge of history, especially WWII and German history. John loved music and played the piano by ear, performing his pieces for the residents of Halcyon House. His passion for over 70 years was golf. He was club champion at the Washington Golf and Country Club and later become a teaching pro.

He leaves behind his wife and loving caregiver, Nell Lloyd of Winter Haven, Florida; brother, James Lloyd and wife Cathy of Washington, Iowa; niece, Lisa Krotz and husband Willy of Iowa City, Iowa; niece, Jennifer Hanssen and husband Steve of Phoenix, Arizona; three step-children; several step-grandchildren and many, many friends at Lakeside Ranch in Florida.
