John Edward "Ed" Jones, age 69, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, January 09, 2015, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington after failing in health for the past year.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Carpenter officiating. Visitation will begin noon Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Ed was born October 9, 1945, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Alvin Victor and Wanda P. (Custer) Jones. He attended school in Crawfordsville, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School. Ed was married to Mardi Beenblossom in Washington, Iowa. They were later divorced.

Ed was a life resident of Washington, Iowa, where he worked in sales all of his life. He loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He loved spending time with his family and was a proud grandfather. He served in the National Guard for several years.

Ed is survived by his son, Doug Jones and wife Jennifer of Washington, Iowa; son, Greg Jones and wife Emilee of Washington, Iowa; three grandchildren, Isabel, Chase and Myles Jones; his mother, Wanda P. Jones of Washington, Iowa; sister, Cindy Pazdernik and husband Ivan of Alexandria, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Lester Schlatter of Wayland, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Sue Schlatter; and his fiancé, Mary Heisdorffer.
