Jody Ann Tanner, age 69, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Iowa City Nursing and Rehab Center after failing in health for the past several years.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Jody was born September 22, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas William and Charlane (Johns) Tanner. She attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1970.

Jody began working at the Washington County Hospital on September 24, 1979, first as a CNA and then as a ward clerk and telemetry monitor technician. During that time, Jody attended the EMT Program at Southeast Community College in Burlington. Jody became an EMT, working her way through all levels to Paramedic Specialist. She then became a Red Cross CPR instructor and evaluator. She retired on February 14, 2014 after 35 years at the hospital.

Jody enjoyed reading, watching movies and crime shows, going to auctions, having political discussions, and going to the casino since 2018. She had the most joy rekindling friendships and meeting with her high school friends called "POPS Sisters.". He greatest love in life though, was her family. She loved watching her nephews grow into wonderful adults with a plan for their lives and marrying two beautiful young ladies. She gained one great-nephew and two great-nieces which completed her life.

She is survived by her mother, Charlane Tanner of Washington, IA; sister, Sally Tranberg of Clarksville, TN; two nephews: Thomas Tranberg and wife Brittnye of Clarksville, TN; Timothy Tranberg and wife Leah of Spring Hill, TN; one great nephew, Wyatt Tranberg; and two great nieces, Katherine and Allison Tranberg.

Jody was preceded in death by her father, Tom Tanner in 2018; and brother-in-law, Jim Tranberg in 2019.

The Tanner family would like to thank the staff at the Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center and Hospice of Washington County for the love and wonderful care they gave Jody. They would also like to thank Lynn Thomas and Cathy Buffington for being co-workers and true friends.
