Obituary
JoAnn Elizabeth Zager, age 70, of Brighton, Iowa, died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Ss Joseph and Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Fr. Damian Ilokaba officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Thursday evening. Private family interment will take place at the Sandy Hook Cemetery in Brighton, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Ss Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain. JoAnn was born March 16, 1948 in West Point, New York, the daughter of Jacob and Josephine (Cali) Snyder. She attended a private catholic prep school in West Point, New York. JoAnn was married to Tom Hartsock in New York. She was later united in marriage to Robert D. "Zip" Zager on February 17, 1978, in Washington, Iowa.
JoAnn grew up in New York and moved to Iowa when she was in her early twenties. She was co-owner of Zager Plumbing and Heating Company. She was an active member of Ss Joseph and Cabrini Catholic Church and routinely assisted with Congregate Meals. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and spending time outside on the farm.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Zager of Brighton, Iowa; son, Bill Hartsock and wife Nancy of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Laurie Ann Moore of Oak Grove, MN; daughter, Beth Laws of Washington, Iowa; step son, Dale Zager and wife Dustie of Pompano Beach, Florida; step daughter, Mary Downing and husband Dave of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren: Blane Hurlocker,and wife Miranda, Lexianne Moore, Ellee Laws, Rachael Downing and Jacob Laws. She is also survived by one sister, Delores Herbert of Elkhart, IN; one niece, Mary Pat Zganjer of Cleveland, OH; as well as many cousins.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Michael Roscoe; and one brother-in-law, Stu Herbert.
