Jim Gingerich, age 80, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Washington County Hospital.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. General calling hours will be held at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m.until 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Jim was born February 18, 1933 in Washington County Iowa, the son of Archie and Sephronia "Fronie" (Nayadley) Gingerich. He attended Maple Grove Country School and later attended school in Keota. Jim was united in marriage to Carol Weaver on May 14, 1961 in Washington, Iowa.

Jim was a self employed electrician and worked in the maintenance department of Halcyon House for ten years until his retirement. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving from 1951 until 1953. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting, woodworking and doing carpentry work.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Gingerich; son, Loren Gingerich and wife Tammy; two grandsons, Nicholas and Jacob Gingerich; sister, Betty Lowry and husband Vernie; brother, Ole Gingerich and wife Adeline; sister, Janet Cronbaugh and sister, Carol Jones, all of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Loren Boone and Marvin Boone; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Gingerich.
