Obituary

Jill Speece, age 72, of Washington, Iowa died Monday, April 2, 2012 at the United Presbyterian Home after a lengthy illness with her heart and Parkinson's Disease.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Heart Foundation or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Karen Jill Speece was born July 29, 1939 the daughter of Dale R. and Maradell (Spurgeon) Keefer in Marion, Indiana. She attended school in Sweetser, Indiana where she graduated from Sweetser High School. Jill was united in marriage to Phil D. "Skip" Speece on December 21, 1957 in Sweetser, Indiana.

Jill worked as a Teacher's Aide and later as a secretary for various businesses until her retirement in 2001. She had resided in Sweetser, Indiana for twenty years; Oskaloosa, Iowa for four years; Crawfordsville, Iowa for four years; Medaryville, Indiana for seven years; Johnston, Iowa for six years; Scottsville, Kentucky for ten years; Mediapolis, Iowa for eight years; and recently Washington, Iowa.

Jill was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed crafts and going to craft shows. She liked to travel and to spend time with her family.

Jill is survived by her husband Skip, of Washington, Iowa; three children: daughter Tari Sue Reynolds of Washington, Iowa; son Dean Allen Speece and wife Leona of Francesville, Indiana; and son Martin Samuel Speece and wife Paula of Mansfield, Texas; brother Jack Keefer and wife Jan of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ann Spencer, and grandson Dirk Reynolds.
