Jeanne M. Callahan, age 64, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at her daughter's residence in Wellman following a ten month battle with cancer.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Parish Life Center at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, Iowa, with Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Jeanne was born February 2, 1952, in Casey, Iowa, the daughter of Harley Eugene and Werdna Sally (Hayes) Hubbard. She attended Adair-Casey High School graduating in 1970. Jeanne was married to Dan Callahan. They were later divorced.
Jeanne worked as a Certified Medical Coder for 45 years at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and the Washington County Hospital & Clinics until her retirement in 2015. She had previously tended bar at The Diamond Inn/ Diamond Dan's and at Hoodwinks in Washington. She enjoyed traveling, camping and reading. Jeanne cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by son, Damon Callahan and wife Jennifer of Wellman, Iowa; daughter Angela Callahan-West and husband Heath of Wellman, Iowa; five grandchildren: Gannon, Quinn, and Ellie Callahan and Harlee and Oaklee West; mother, Sally Hubbard of Washington, Iowa; brother, Glen Hubbard and wife Millie of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Elaine Ryan and husband Art of Newton, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Steve Messinger and Bruce Hubbard; and one sister, Irene Gaskill.
