Jeanette E. Libe, age 85, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Halcyon House in Washington following a lengthy battle with cancer

The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Private family interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Jeanette Elaine Choate was born April 1, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Robert C. and Margaret E. (Ellyson) Choate. The family moved to Washington in 1941. Jeanette attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1955. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Jeanette was united in marriage to Robert L. (Bob) Libe on November 24, 1956, in Washington, Iowa.

Jeanette worked at Federation Bank until her retirement in 2006. She enjoyed walking, caring for her plants, doing crosswords, reading, traveling and being with family. She enjoyed the monthly gatherings with her high school classmates.

She is survived by four children: Jeffrey (Janet) Libe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Tina (Kevin) Blair of Sun City West, Arizona; Perry (Sonya) Libe of Washington, Iowa; and Brenda (Brian) Libe-Carey of Aztec, New Mexico; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Richards of Washington, Iowa; and brother, Richard Choate of Redman, Oregon.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob, in 2018; brother-in-law, Joe Richards and brother-in-law, Don (Bev) Libe.
