Obituary

Jean Moore Conry, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Ainsworth, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Halcyon House in Washington after failing in health for the past four years.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January, 16, 2013 at the Ainsworth Community Church with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Washington County. Jean was born January 18, 1925 in Eldon, Iowa the daughter of Thomas Allender and Maude (Stephenson) Moore. She graduated from Eldon High School and received her Nursing Degree from the University of Iowa. Jean was united in marriage to Eldon Wayne Conry on August 20, 1950 in Eldon, Iowa.

Jean was born and raised in Eldon, Iowa moving to Ainsworth in 1963. She resided in Ainsworth until moving to Halcyon House in 2006. She was a Registered Nurse working for Dr. Vosika and Dr. Tamm in Washington, Iowa and later working at the University of Iowa Hospital until her retirement in 1982. She previously worked in New Mexico and a variety of locations in Eastern Iowa.

She was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church where she was active in the Ainsworth Community Church Women. Jean was a member of the Sorosis Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and watching birds.

She is survived by five sons; Steven Conry of Waldoboro, Maine; Thomas Conry of Waldoboro, Maine; Randal Conry and wife Brenda of Texarkana, Texas; Neal Conry and wife Paula of Iowa City, Iowa; Donald Conry and wife Liza of Wilmington, Deleware; four grandchildren; Racheal Magee and husband James of Texarkana, Texas; Lillian Conry of Wilmington, Deleware; Eldon Conry of Wilmington, Deleware; Jesse Stika of Iowa City, Iowa; and three great grandchildren; Rebeccah, Carolyn and Madison Magee. Jean is also survived by her sister, Coral Barnes of Independence, Missouri, and brother, Clifford Moore and wife Carol of Ottumwa, Iowa.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2001, one granddaughter – Madeline Conry, and two sisters, Donna Streeby and Marjorie Sanders.
