Janet Frances (Mastain) Sterling, age 83, of Wayland, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids with her sisters by her side.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Darryl Carr officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Lions Club of Wayland. Janet F. Sterling was born September 13, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Frances Ellen (Bentley) Mastain. She attended school in Cedar Rapids graduating from Wilson High School in 1957. Janet married Burdell "B.C." Miller in December 1958. They later divorced. She married Jack Sterling in Kansas. Jack preceded her in death.

Janet had many friends in Washington and Wayland. She worked at the Wayland Reporter as a journalist writing a monthly article for publication.

She is survived by sisters, Nelda (Pete) Rouse of Marion, Iowa, Marlys (Art) Lauf of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brothers, Alvin Mastain of Indianapolis, Indiana, Gordon "Mike" (Mary) Mastain of Marion, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; brother Richard Mastain; former husbands B.C. Miller and Jack Sterling; and fiancé Jimmy Renfro.
