James Clifford Shields, age 61, of Brighton, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025.

Private family interment will take place at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences for James's family can be sent to www.jonesfh.com .

James was born August 28, 1963, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Myron and Ruth (Kelsey) Shields. He attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1982. James was united in marriage to Kellie M. Barber on October 26, 2010.

James was employed at Bazooka Farm Star for several years. He enjoyed listening to music and playing the drums.

He is survived by his father, Myron Shields of Washington, Iowa; and four brothers: Paul (Bonnie Turner) Shields of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mark Shields of Media, Illinois; John (Kristine) Shields of Arden Hills, Minnesota; and Joel Shields of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; as well as six nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his mom, Ruth Shields; and his wife, Kellie Shields.
