James Robert McFarland Sr., age 52, of Ainsworth died Saturday February 13, 2010 in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington with services conducted by Rev. Kitch Shatzer. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Tuesday where the family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 11:00 am Tuesday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. A general memorial has been established. James was born on April 10, 1957 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Richard and Bebe (Fullerton) McFarland. He graduated from Highland High School. Following school James joined the military serving in active and reserve duty from 1975 until 1995. He worked as an electrician for Chamber Electric. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing softball, where he even played with his sons. James especially enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife, Tina Wayne of Ainsworth; son, James Robert McFarland Jr. of Ainsworth; son, Daryl Jon McFarland and wife Rene of Bloomfield; daughter, Elayna Katherine McFarland of Ainsworth; daughter, Ashley Wayne of Ainsworth; son, Nicholas Wayne of Ainsworth; one granddaughter, Lillianna Wayne; parents, Richard and Bebe McFarland of Ainsworth; brother, Jon McFarland and wife Karen of Washington; brother, Rick McFarland and wife Pam of Ainsworth; sister, DeAnn Lorack and husband Kenny of Columbus Junction; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Katherine McFarland; and his grandfather, Francis Fullerton.
