Obituary

Jack DeWayne Fall, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the Halcyon House following a long illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Make A Wish Foundation and Hospice of Washington County. Jack DeWayne Fall was born October 1, 1934, in Albia, Iowa, the son of Donald and Juanita (Morgan) Fall. He graduated from high school in Albia. Jack served honorably in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer during the Korean War, spending time in Germany and at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. He was called back to duty during the Berlin Crisis. Jack was united in marriage to Linda Ahn on March 30, 1960, at the First Christian Church in Albia, Iowa.

After high school, Jack worked for the Railroad and later for Combined Insurance. He relocated to Washington, Iowa in 1967 upon being appointed as an Insurance Agent for State Farm Insurance and worked there for 50 years. He was a 15-year member of Rotary Club of Washington as well as a member for the Chamber of Commerce and Community Chest. Jack was a parishioner at the First Christian Church in Washington where he was an Elder for over 30 years. He tutored high school students and coached youth baseball and basketball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Fall of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Jacki Robison of Peoria, Arizona; son, Steven Fall and wife Lynn of Birmingham, Iowa; daughter, Dawn Hayes and husband Brian of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren: Robert Robison and wife Carli, Ryan Robison, Joseph Patterson, Summit Keith, Justin Hagans, and Jordan Hagans; five great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Jonah, Oliver, Adrian, and Liam; sister, Linda Wenger and husband Jack of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, William Fall and wife Joan of Ottumwa, Iowa; nephews, Emerson and Jesse Fall; niece, Samantha VanWheelden and husband Travis; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Donald Fall; mother, Juanita Fall; sisters, Sherry Fall and Mary Kay Fall; and special nephew, Brian Quinn.
