Obituary

Helen Levon (Wells) Davison, age 97, of Wayland, Iowa, died Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Parkview Home in Wayland, where she had been a resident for eight years.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Chaplain Don Combs officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Parkview Home in Wayland and Samaritan's Purse. Online condolences may be sent for Helen's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com .

Helen was born January 1, 1921 in Prairie Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert Ellis and Myrtle Esther (Smith) Wells. Helen graduated from Brighton High School as salutatorian of her class and having completed the Normal Training program for teachers. She graduated from Washington Junior College and taught at a country school North of Brighton and later finished a term at Franklin School North of Coppock. It was in this community she met her future husband and continued teaching until her marriage. She married William Russell Davison on June 1, 1941 at the bride's home, East of Brighton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2006.

As a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington, she was active in the United Methodist Women. Her deep faith was an important part of her life. Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren, genealogy and quilting. Numerous, and some exceptional, quilts and other sewn items were made for family, friends and church.

She is survived by her two sons: William Rollin Davison and wife Laurie of Wayland, IA; and Chaplain Timon Wesley Davison and wife Gail of Erwin, NC, formerly of West Branch, IA; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Adele Lee Wells of Washington, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Lora Davison; two granddaughters: Cherie Davison and Stephanie (Davison) Fletcher; sisters, Velma Stout; and brothers: Roy Wells and Bert Wells.
