Harrison Jones, age 75, of Washington died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his home in Washington after being seriously ill for the past month.
Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Gene Carpenter, Pastor Darryl Carr, and Pastor Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Visitation will begin 12:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Harrison was born October 7, 1935 the son of Harrison and Hazel (Fisher) Jones. He lived in Washington all of his adult life. Harrison was a member of the Optimae family. Harrison attended the First Baptist Church in Washington. He loved fishing and looking at Magazines. He enjoyed stock car races, being with and helping people, playing guitar, listening to music, and collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and attending Camp REECE. Harrison attended the annual fish day for many years.
Harrison is survived by his Optimae family and friends, Guardian Jodi Reed and his immediate family: sister, Sarah Grisham of Burlington; brother, Eddie Jones of Washington; brother, Ronnie Jones of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Edgar Lee Jones of California; and his local nieces and nephews, Treasa Swailes, Bruce and Sherry Swailes, and Artie and Cami Swailies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Lou Swailes; and his brother, David Jones.
