Harlan James Palmer, age 67, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in Florida.
A graveside service and interment with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Fulton Cemetery in Cairo, Iowa with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Harlan was born August 1, 1952 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Edward E. and Margaret (Evans) Palmer. He graduated from Wapello High School in 1971. After 20 years of honorable service, Harlan retired from the United States Army. Harlan worked at Kalona Plastics in Kalona, Iowa, and later worked twelve years at the Riverside Casino as a Security Officer until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue Jin Palmer; son, Jay Edward Palmer; and granddaughter Aubrey Palmer all of Columbus, Georgia; six brothers: Faylon, Gary, Francis, Robert, Maynard and Karl Palmer; five sisters, Loretta Andrews, Jean Johnson, Juanita Carlson, Dale Steward and Nadine Walker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Gladys Beenblossom, Clair Palmer and Dewayne Palmer.
