Gregory "Greg" Alan Seubert, age 51, of Washington died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Halcyon House in Washington following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Rev. Steven Koch officiating. Visitation will begin 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Greg's wishes were to be cremated and private family scattering services will take place at a later date. Greg was born May 31, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Dale Roy and Martha Belle (Johnson) Seubert. His mother died on May 19, 1964 when Greg was five. His father later married Joyce Rose who continued raising Greg. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with majors in finance and accounting. Greg was united in marriage to Lori Jean Samuelson on September 16, 1989 in Manson, Iowa. Greg worked in accounting and finance with Theobald, Donohue and Thompson, P.C., CPA's in Oskaloosa from February 1985 to May 1988, Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa from May 1988 to March 2000, John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa from May 2000 to March 2002, and Washington County Hospital & Clinics in Washington as Chief Financial Officer from March 2002 to May 2009. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, Washington Golf and Country Club, where he served as a board member, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Health Care Financial Management Association (Fellow). He was a former Committee Member of Cub Scout Pack 77 Oskaloosa, Iowa, Leader and Assistant Den Leader of Cub Scout Pack 77 Den 4, Sunrise Kiwanis of Oskaloosa, St. Johns Lutheran Church, Mahaska County Izaak Walton League, where he served as past president and board member, Mahaska County Ducks Unlimited Committee Volunteer, Mahaska County Pheasants Forever, and Amateur Trapshooting Association. Greg enjoyed the time he spent with his family, golfing, fishing and trapshooting.
Greg is survived by his wife, Lori Seubert of Washington; son, Robert Seubert of Washington; daughter, Jenny Seubert of Washington; father, Dale Seubert of Edina, Minnesota; three sisters, Nancy husband Jim Hogan of Streator, IL; Debbie Ferkingstad (Joe Kirzeder) of Baxter, Minnesota; and Vickey Feaster (Paul DeLuca) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha in 1964; his second mother, Joyce in 2010; and his grandparents Seubert and Johnson.
