Grace Houseal McKune, age 96, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

Grace was born July 14, 1917 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Isadore and Anna (Quinn) Houseal. She graduated from Ainsworth High School, the valedictorian of her class. She was united in marriage to Grant McKune on June 3, 1942 in Washington, Iowa.

Grace worked at the Washington County Hospital and Montgomery Ward, and then as a Soil Conservation Clerk for the state of Iowa until her retirement. She was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington and of the Sew-ets Club. Grace enjoyed completing at least one crossword puzzle a day and watching her shows, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Family Fued. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her young grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Garda Ann Huston; four grandchildren: Anastasia (Don) Schold, Grant (Connie) Huston, Quentin (Elisabeth) Huston and Alana (Franco) Fedrizzi; eight great-grandchildren: Gregory, Alicia, Ariana, Ashley, Brittany, Brett, Grant Jr. and Adriana; six great-great-grandchildren: Ecko, Hunter, Braxton, John, Lillie and Marllie; one brother William (Helen Ann) Houseal; sister-in-laws, Lena Houseal and Maxine Houseal; her former son-in-law, Ernest (Daisy) Huston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1960; her sister, Ruth Kruse; and her brothers, Samuel and Robert Houseal.
