Georgina White, age 100, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Glaucoma Research Foundation and the Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation. Georgina was born April 28, 1917 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas J. and Georgina (McCartney) Stirling. She lived her entire life in Washington County. Georgina attended rural Washington County Schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1935. She then attended Washington Junior College. She was united in marriage to Duane "Red" White on June 12, 1937 in Kahoka, Missouri.

Georgina was a dedicated homemaker and wife for over 57 years and was a true Sports and Band Mom shuttle. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator and was a long-time Ainsworth correspondent for the Washington Evening Journal and the Columbus Gazette. She enjoyed being a free-lance writer for magazines. Georgina was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church and served as a Washington County 4-H leader and County Committeewoman member for many years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 60 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Stafford of Killeen, TX; son, Joe A. (Jean) White of Mesa, AZ; 3 grandchildren: Brian J. (Pamela) White of Lafayette, IN; Lori (Jean aka Gino) Chamalbide of Chandler, AZ; and Michael D. (Virginia) White of Everett, WA; 5 great-grandchildren: Angelina White, Connor and Caitlin Chamalbide, and Ayva and Madison White; one nephew; and several cousins.

Georgina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1994; 2 brothers: Robert J. and David J. Stirling; and 2 sisters: Mary Jane (Jean) Pearson and Margaret Stirling.
