Georgia Ann Dempsey, age 92, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Washington County Hospital.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Georgia's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com .

Georgia was born August 23, 1924 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis E. "Ed" and Rachel (Starr) Wiley. She graduated from Washington High School in 1942 and attended Washington Jr. College for one year. She married Nick Dittrich in 1943. He preceded her in death. She was later united in marriage to Lewis J. "Jack" Dempsey.

Georgia was the secretary at Stewart Elementary School in Washington for many years. In 1983, she relocated to Texas where she was the manager for a True Value Hardware Store. She returned to Iowa in 2011. Georgia enjoyed painting and took great care in documenting family history.

She is survived by her grandsons, Dion and Nick Dittrich of Washington, IA; great-grandchildren, Amber, Dustin and wife Heaven, Nick, and Pearl Dittrich; and great-great-grandsons, Lukas and Greyson Dittrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and one son, Larry Dittrich.
