George Charles Lord, age 77, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died suddenly on Thursday, March 30, 2017, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8,2017 at the Ainsworth Community Church with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Military honors will be accorded following the memorial service at Ainsworth Community Church. Calling hours will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening. George was born February 1, 1940, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the son of Glen and Alice (Mundt) Lord. He graduated from Ainsworth High School and attended college for one year. He served honorably in the United States Army. George was united in marriage to Linda M. Stapp on July 12, 1969, in Ainsworth, Iowa.
George farmed all of his life in the Ainsworth Community. He also worked for L.L. Pelling and DeLong Construction. He was a Master Bridge player and enjoyed farming and reading.
George is survived by his wife, Linda Lord of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Joyce Janecek and husband Keith of Riverside, Iowa; son Matthew Lord and wife Kelly of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; son, Robert Lord and wife Hollee of North Liberty, Iowa; five grandchildren: Philip Lord and special friend Becky, Audrey Lord, Myra Lord, Owen Lord and Maya Lord. He is also survived by his brother Tom Lord and wife Mary Sue of Lakewood, Colorado; brother, Richard Lord of Ainsworth, Iowa; sister, Sarah "Betty" Anders and husband Rick of Muscatine, Iowa; sister-in-law, Connie Cronbaugh and husband Robert of Marengo, Iowa; brother-in-law, Gary Stapp and wife Arla of Grandview, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Alice Lord; grandparents, George and Mary Lord; sisters-in-law, Donna Holskey, Lois Lee and Charolette Stapp
