George Carpenter, age 68, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

George was born October 21, 1952 in Palos Hills, Illinois, the son of Edward C. and Veda Mae (Rhodes) Carpenter. He graduated from High School in Palos Hills and severed honorably in the United States Navy. George worked for Engineer Building Design in Washington. He enjoyed his many trips with his great-nephew, Erik, to various places such as aquariums, the science station and zoos.
George is survived by his great-nephew, Erik Goselin of Washington, IA; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ramona Carpenter and Virginia Goselin; and niece, Michelle Campbell.
