Freda W. Jeffries, age 98, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at the United Presbyterian Home following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2015 at Elm Grove Cemetery. General calling hours will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Freda was born July 11, 1917, in Henry County, Iowa, the daughter of John B. and Lena (Boese) Hertig. She was united in marriage to Charles "Bill" Jeffries on January 5, 1946.

Freda assisted her husband on the family farming operation in the West Chester and Wellman communities. She also provided nanny service to families in Washington. She was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church and enjoyed socializing and playing cards with her neighbors. Freda enjoyed dancing while listening to her husband play in the band.

Freda is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2007; and five siblings: Gladys Brenneman, Frances Koebel, Allen Hertig, Anna Stalder and Dillon Hertig.
