Freda H. Blanchard, age 92, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Crawfordsville Cemetery with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. A general memorial has been established. Freda was born January 28, 1929 in St. Robert, Missouri, the daughter of Nellie York. She attended school in Missouri. Freda was united in marriage to Robert E. Blanchard on July 11, 1955 in Waynesville, Missouri. The couple relocated to Iowa in 1982.

Freda worked as a childcare provider and hotel housekeeper. She loved caring for others, especially at Townview Village in Ainsworth where she once lived. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outside, playing Bingo, trips to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren. Freda will be remembered as a tough, resilient, feisty and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Donald Kelly and wife Stephanie of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren: Dylan, Gabriel, Raiden, Ashley and Logan Kelly; and great-grandchild, Kemper Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1992; and 12 brothers and sisters.
