Fern M. Clang, age 84, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa following a short illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Hospice of Washington County. Fern was born December 25, 1931 in Masonville, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Mamie (Jones) Stimson. She graduated from high school in Masonville. Fern married Paul Knoll in 1952 in Independence, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1954. She was united in marriage to Robert R. Clang on June 16, 1958 in Berwyn, Illinois.
Fern has been a resident of Crawfordsville for the past 16 years. She worked for Collins Radio and was a school cook in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and worked at Marilyn's Restaurant in Center Point, Iowa. Fern enjoyed sewing and embroidery, reading books, drinking coffee and watching the X Games and various sports on T.V.
She is survived by her son, Carl Clang and wife Kathy of Dahinda, Illinois; daughter, Dixie Elefsrud and husband Rick of Waterloo, Iowa; daughter, Carolyn Love of Crawfordsville, Iowa; son, Charles Clang and wife Crystal of West Palm Beach, Florida; son, Stan Clang of Crawfordsville, Iowa; daughter, Andrea Rudy and husband Charles of Chesapeake, Virginia; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Carradus and husband Dean of Sycamore, Illinois, brother, Dean Stimson and wife Norma of Decatur, Illinois; and sister, Grace Crippen and husband Dale of Manchester, Iowa.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; husband, Robert in 1993; brother, Charles Stimson; 2 great-granddaughters; and 1 great-grandson.
