Faye E. Henry, age 90, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Washington Tree Committee. Faye was born December 31, 1924, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Freda M. (Denison) Varney. She attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School. Faye was united in marriage to Maurice M. Henry on August 15, 1943, in Washington, Iowa.
Faye lived most of her life in Washington where she worked at various manufacturing companies. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington. Faye enjoyed being around her family and friends. She loved spending time outdoors, going fishing, mushrooming and camping. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the Casino.
She is survived by her son, Marcus Henry and wife Diana of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Beverly Goodwin and husband Donald of rural Columbus Junction, Iowa; daughter, Bonnie Henry of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister, Elizabeth Wolfe of Washington, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Dilys Varney of Lone Tree, Iowa.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1989; brother, William Varney and his wife Helen; brother, Robert Varney; and brother-in-law, Wayne Wolfe.
