Ezra E. "Easy" Jones, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, August 08, 2016, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a short illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil K. Jones officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Wednesday evening. Interment with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at Schrock Cemetery in rural Washington County, Iowa. Ezra was born February 10, 1921, in rural Novinger, Missouri, the son of Virgil Forrest and Mattie Manilla (Carnagey) Jones. He attended the Golden Rule Country School in Novinger, Missouri. Easy was united in marriage to Mary Josephine Hanssen on September 1, 1940, in Hopkinton, Iowa. He served proudly during World War II with the "B" Battery of the 335th Field Artillery Battalion taking part in five major battles including the Battle of the Bulge.
Easy has been a resident of Washington County since 1961. He worked at Colonial Baking Company from 1947 – 1959 and was a salesman for Moorman Feed Company from 1959 until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed showing albums and photos to his family and friends and telling his life stories.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Crandall of Brighton, Iowa; daughter, Murlee Bohr of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter, Debbie Hagerla and husband Albert of Edina, Missouri; son, Michael Jones and wife Lori of Des Moines, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
Easy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2012; two brothers, Norman and Virgil Jones; and two sisters, Juanita Truitt and Voncile Logston.
