Eugene J. Bixby, age 60, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at his residence after being seriously ill for the past two months.
Eugene was born August 12, 1953 in Washington, Iowa, the son of James and Seville (Shafer) Bixby. He graduated from Highland High School. On June 19, 1971, Eugene was united in marriage to Rose Schmitt in Washington, Iowa.
Eugene lived in the Ainsworth area most of his life. He owned and operated Bixby Sandblasting for 25 years until an accident forced his early retirement. Eugene enjoyed fishing, going mushroom hunting, playing cards, gardening, going "bargain hunting" at yard sales and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Bixby of Ainsworth, Iowa; son, David Bixby and wife Cindy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter, Shelly Renoux of Washington, Iowa; four grandchildren, Tanner, Tucker and Abby Renoux, and Marissa Bixby; sister, Linda Krug and husband Dan of Coralville, Iowa; and sister, Evelyn Bixby and special friend Bob Benda of Washington, Iowa.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Dalton Bixby; and one brother, Virgil Bixby.
