Esther L. Horak, age 96, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Bernie Weir officiating. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Alzheimer's Association and for Hospice of Washington County. Esther was born January 5, 1920 in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Isadore and Eugenia (Woebig) Deutsch. She was united in marriage to Leonard Horak on November 11, 1941. Esther was a very active parishioner at St. James Catholic Church and she loved the Los Angeles Dodgers.
She is survived by her son, Phil Horak and wife Diane of Sigourney, Iowa; daughter, Vicki Ortega and husband Joe of Chino Hills, California; daughter, Nancy Flynn and husband Joe of Washington, Iowa; son, Bryan Horak and wife Cathy of Marion, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter, Rhonda Horak.
