Ernest Carl Ibendahl, age 71, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Washington County Hospital following a sudden illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the First Baptist Church. Ernie was born August 28, 1942, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Henry and Elva (Hole) Ibendahl. He attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. Ernie was married to Sheila Richardson on June 16, 1966. Following their divorce he was married to Sherry Triska on June 17, 1974 in Stronghurst, Illinois. He later married Carol Lamoral.

Ernie was a life resident of Washington, Iowa. He worked at Master Mix Feeds in Washington and later at the American Pearl Button Factory. He later worked at the Washington County Developmental Center. Ernie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and checkers. Ernie cherished the time spent with his family. He liked being outdoors and spending time in City Parks enjoying nature.

He is survived by one daughter, Jenny Ibendahl and friend, Bob Berumez of Waterloo, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Berumez; one niece, Violet Triska of Washington, Iowa; and one great-niece, Amanda Triska.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Ibendahl; and sister Betty Hole.
