Elsbeth Reinert, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa.
A private family graveside service will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations have been established for the M.L. Elsbeth was born February 8, 1926 in East Prussia, Germany, the daughter of Otto and Bertha Wichmann. Elsbeth, her parents, twin sister, Helga and older sister, Klara immigrated to the United States on April 4, 1954.
Elsbeth married Leo Reinert on September 3, 1960. On her 36th birthday in 1962, Elsbeth gave birth to her only child, John. They farmed in Dutch Creek Township for many years before retiring in Washington, Iowa in 1995. Elsbeth enjoyed driving to the farm during planting and harvest, always with enough food to feed anyone she could. She also enjoyed getting lucky at the slot machines at any casino.
Elsbeth is survived by her son, John Reinert and his wife Rebecca of Fairfield, Iowa; her twin sister Helga Tober and husband Waldy of Bowling Green, Ohio; and two nephews Mark Tober and wife Brenda, and Peter Sonner and wife Linda.
She was preceded in death by husband Leo in 2001, her parents, and sister Klara Sonner.
